The St. John's University (SJU) Red Storm men's basketball team put on a shooting clinic on Wednesday night, draining 15 three-pointers en route to an 84-70 victory over the Syracuse Orange.
SJU's sharpshooting performance was led by senior guard Posh Alexander, who knocked down five three-pointers and finished with a game-high 22 points. Sophomore forward Julian Champagnie also contributed four three-pointers and 18 points, while junior guard Rasheem Dunn added three three-pointers and 15 points.
The Red Storm's three-point shooting was a major factor in the game, as they shot 48.4% from beyond the arc (15-of-31). Syracuse, on the other hand, struggled from three-point range, shooting just 26.7% (8-of-30).
In addition to their three-point shooting, SJU also dominated the boards, outrebounding Syracuse 38-26. Champagnie led the Red Storm with 10 rebounds, while Alexander grabbed eight rebounds.
The Red Storm's victory over Syracuse was their third straight win and improved their record to 10-6 overall and 4-2 in the Big East Conference. The Orange dropped to 9-7 overall and 2-3 in the ACC.
SJU will return to action on Saturday, January 15, when they host the DePaul Blue Demons at Carnesecca Arena.
