Oregon's hot shooting and Grizzlies' early turnovers prove to be too much to overcome
The Grizzlies dropped their third straight game on Wednesday night, falling to the Oregon Ducks 96-88 in Eugene. Memphis is now 2-5 on the season, while Oregon improved to 5-2.
The Grizzlies struggled to keep pace with the Ducks from the opening tip. Oregon shot a blistering 57.1% from the field in the first half, including 9-of-17 from three-point range. Memphis, meanwhile, shot just 39.0% from the field and 4-of-15 from three-point range.
The Grizzlies also committed 10 turnovers in the first half, which led to 13 points for Oregon. Memphis finished the game with 13 turnovers, which led to 19 points for the Ducks.
The Grizzlies were led by Ja Morant, who scored 25 points and dished out 10 assists. Jaren Jackson Jr. added 22 points and 9 rebounds, while Desmond Bane scored 17 points.
Oregon was led by Quincy Guerrier, who scored 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Will Richardson added 18 points, while Eric Williams Jr. scored 17 points.
The Grizzlies will return to action on Friday night when they host the Sacramento Kings. The Kings are 4-3 on the season.
