'We can dream' - Blyth Spartans boss warns Alnwick Town sorry as non-league clash sets up potential Wembley date

Blyth Spartans boss Alun Armstrong has warned Alnwick Town they will be 'blown away' by the occasion when the sides meet in the FA Vase semi-finals - and insisted his side are dreaming of Wembley.

The two sides meet at Croft Park on Saturday for a place in the final at the national stadium - and Armstrong knows the magnitude of the occasion for his Northern League Division One opposition.

He said: "It's a great occasion. We're playing a side four divisions below us. We should be winning it. But when you get to this stage, anything can happen. We've treated them with respect and we'll be doing our utmost to get to Wembley.

Armstrong knows how big an occasion this is for his players - and the Blyth fans who will make the trip to Croft Park.

"It's a massive day for the football club. We're going to take 600 or 700 fans up there. They are going to be brilliant for us and will play their part. It's going to be a fantastic occasion."

"If you end up getting to Wembley, everyone's going to be celebrating it just as much as if we get promoted. It's a huge occasion for the club - and the town."

Blyth have been in sparkling form this season. They are second in National League North - and have won 11 of their last 13 games. Armstrong knows his side are favourites - but is demanding they show Alnwick respect.

"We will approach the game professionally." Armstrong said. "I don't want the players to take things for granted. Let's not have any complacency. We need to do what we have been doing in the league and the FA Cup - which is playing good football and scoring goals.

"If we do that I'm sure we will be ok. But we need to be professional in our outlook and make sure we turn up with the right attitude. We can't afford to take anything for granted."

Armstrong added: "We should have enough to win the game. If we play to our potential, our quality should show. But anything can happen in football. We need to make sure we give it our all and make sure we earn the right to go to Wembley."
