USC defeats Cal State Northridge 87-55 for third straight win

Trojans women's basketball raises record to 10-3 overall

USC's defense suffocates Matadors in wire-to-wire victory

The USC Trojans women's basketball team continued their winning ways on Sunday afternoon, defeating the Cal State Northridge Matadors 87-55 at the Galen Center. The victory gives USC its third straight win and improves its record to 10-3 overall.

USC controlled the game from the opening tip, jumping out to a 10-0 lead and never looking back. The Trojans' defense was stifling, holding CSUN to just 31.3% shooting from the field and forcing 19 turnovers.

Offensively, USC was led by freshman guard Destiny Littleton, who scored a game-high 19 points. Senior forward Alissa Pili added 16 points and 9 rebounds, and junior guard Jordan Sanders chipped in 12 points.

The Matadors were led by sophomore guard Channon Fluker, who scored 14 points. But Fluker's efforts were not enough to overcome USC's suffocating defense.

The Trojans will return to action on Thursday, December 29, when they host the Pepperdine Waves at the Galen Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. PT.

Quotable

"I'm really proud of our team's effort today," said USC head coach Lindsay Gottlieb. "We played with great energy and intensity from the start, and our defense was outstanding. We're still a young team, but we're starting to come together and play like a unit."

"We knew that CSUN was a good team, but we were confident that we could beat them if we played our game," said Littleton. "We came out strong and never let up. I'm proud of my teammates for the way we played today."
