Suns-Jazz updates: Phoenix begins NBA Cup play at Utah
Devin Booker out
Devin Booker will not play Tuesday night against Utah. Booker missed the final two games of Phoenix’s first round series against Denver with a hamstring injury. Rookie guard Saben Lee is expected to start in Booker’s place.
Deandre Ayton questionable
Deandre Ayton is questionable for Tuesday’s game with a lower leg injury. Ayton has not played since Game 2 of the Nuggets series. If Ayton is unable to play, JaVale McGee will start at center.
Utah injury report
The Jazz are relatively healthy heading into Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals. The only player on Utah’s injury report is Joe Ingles, who is listed as questionable with a foot injury. Ingles is expected to play.
Series preview
The Suns and Jazz are meeting in the playoffs for the first time since 2010. Phoenix won that series in six games. The Jazz have won the last two regular season meetings between the two teams.
Game 1 prediction
The Suns are a slight favorite in Game 1, but the Jazz should not be overlooked. Utah has a lot of experience in the playoffs and they are playing at home. I expect a close game, but I think the Suns will ultimately win by a score of 112-108.
