Steph Curry Leads Team USA with 24 Points
Watch highlights as the USA beat hosts France in an end-to-end men's basketball final to win gold at Paris 2024.
Steph Curry delivered yet another masterpiece in Paris on Saturday, erupting down the stretch with several huge shots to lead the US to a convincing 98-87 victory over France in the men's basketball final.
Curry, who was coming off a 36-point semifinal performance where he made 9 of 14 3-point tries, led Team USA with 24 points against France. He shot 8-for-13 from deep, adding 5 assists and 4 rebounds.
The victory was the fourth consecutive Olympic gold medal for the US in men's basketball and the sixth overall, confirming their status as the world's dominant force in the sport. For Curry, it was a long-awaited Olympic gold medal, after he missed out on the 2016 Games due to injury.
In a thrilling final, France started strong, leading by as many as 10 points in the second quarter. But Curry and his teammates slowly chipped away at the deficit, and the US took the lead for good midway through the third quarter.
From there, Curry took over, hitting several key shots to keep France at bay. The French team never gave up, but they couldn't match Curry's brilliance down the stretch.
The victory was a fitting end to a dominant Olympic tournament for the US, who went 8-0 and won by an average of 33.5 points per game. Curry was the star of the show, but he was quick to credit his teammates for their contributions.
"This is an incredible feeling," Curry said after the game. "I'm so proud of this team. We worked so hard to get here, and we never gave up. We knew France would be a tough opponent, but we were confident in our game plan. We executed it perfectly tonight, and we're thrilled to come away with the gold medal."
