Cowgirl Volleyball Team's Season Ends in Second Round of NCAA Tournament

LARAMIE, Wyo. (Nov. 26, 2022) – The Wyoming Cowgirl volleyball team saw its 2022 season come to an end Friday night as the Cowgirls fell to the No. 11-seeded Creighton Bluejays in the second round of the NCAA Tournament by a 3-1 score by set scores of 25-19, 20-25, 25-18 and 25-22.

The match was played in front of a sold-out crowd of 1,623 fans inside the CHI Health Center Omaha Arena in Omaha, Neb.

The Cowgirls ended their season with a 25-7 overall record. Creighton improved to 28-6 on the season and advanced to the NCAA Tournament Regional Semifinals next week in Omaha.

Cowgirls Finish Season With 25 Wins, NCAA Tournament Appearance

The 25 wins this season are tied for the fifth most in school history. Wyoming also made its 15th NCAA Tournament appearance in program history and the first since 2017.

Four Cowgirls earned All-Mountain West honors this season, led by First-Team All-MW selections KC McMahon and Emily Lewis.

McMahon, Lewis Lead Cowgirls

McMahon finished the match with a team-high 15 kills, while Lewis added 13 kills and a team-high 13 digs for her seventh double-double of the season.

Jackie McBride added eight kills for the Cowgirls, while Tierney Barlow led the team with 16 digs.

Cowgirls Honored for Academic Success

Earlier this week, the AVCA announced its academic awards and a pair of Cowgirls were honored.

Lewis earned AVCA All-America Scholar Athlete honors, while teammate Faith Waitsman was tabbed an honorable-mention selection.
