Philadelphia 76ers Meet New York Knicks Thursday, Joel Embiid Game Time Decision
Philadelphia 76ers and New York Knicks Meet Thursday for NBA Matchup, with Joel Embiid Game Time Decision
Will Joel Embiid Play Thursday Against the Knicks?
Coming off a disappointing 119-112 loss to the Brooklyn Nets Tuesday, the Philadelphia 76ers are set to host division rival New York Knicks Thursday for an NBA matchup at the Wells Fargo Center. The game is scheduled to tip-off at 7:30 p.m. EST and will be televised on TNT.
All eyes will be on 76ers center Joel Embiid, who is questionable for Thursday's game with a left foot soreness. Embiid, who is averaging 33.1 points and 10.2 rebounds per game this season, missed Tuesday's game against the Nets due to the injury. ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported Tuesday that Embiid is unlikely to play Thursday, but the team will make a final decision closer to game time.
If Embiid is unable to play, the 76ers will be without their leading scorer and rebounder. Tobias Harris would likely start in Embiid's place at center, with Paul Reed or Montrezl Harrell coming off the bench to provide depth. The Knicks, meanwhile, will be looking to snap a two-game losing streak. New York is currently 25-23 on the season and in sixth place in the Eastern Conference standings.
The 76ers are 2-1 against the Knicks this season, including a 119-112 victory in New York on November 22. Embiid had 35 points and 11 rebounds in that game. The Knicks will be looking to avenge that loss and move up in the standings.
Thursday's game is sure to be a competitive one, with both teams looking to improve their playoff positioning. The 76ers are currently in third place in the Eastern Conference standings with a record of 30-16.
