Mum took extreme measures after claiming 'stranger' entered Turkey hotel room at night
Hotel staff intervened after a mum claimed a 'stranger' walked into her hotel room in Turkey at night.
The woman, who was staying at the Paloma Oceana Resort in Side, Turkey, said she was asleep in bed when a strange man walked into her room at around 1am on Friday, July 28.
She said the man, who was naked, walked up to her bed and started touching her.
The woman screamed and the man ran out of the room.
She said she then called hotel security but they did not believe her story and told her to go back to sleep.
The woman said she was so scared that she decided to take matters into her own hands and barricaded the door with a chair.
She said she then called the police and they arrived at the hotel within minutes.
The police searched the hotel but were unable to find the man.
The woman said she is now too scared to stay in the hotel and has booked a flight home.
She said she has also reported the incident to the British Embassy.
A spokesperson for the Paloma Oceana Resort said they are investigating the incident and are taking the woman's claims very seriously.
They said they have spoken to the woman and have offered her support.
They said they are also reviewing CCTV footage from the hotel to try and identify the man.
The spokesperson said the safety of their guests is their top priority and they are doing everything they can to ensure that the woman is safe.
The incident is the latest in a series of sexual assaults on British tourists in Turkey.
In May, a British woman was raped in a hotel room in Marmaris.
In June, a British teenager was sexually assaulted in a hotel room in Antalya.
The British Foreign Office is now advising British tourists to be vigilant when travelling to Turkey.
They have issued a number of safety tips for tourists, including:
- Be aware of your surroundings and be cautious of strangers.
- Avoid walking alone at night, especially in isolated areas.
- Lock your hotel room door and windows, even when you are in the room.
- Do not leave valuables unattended in your hotel room.
- Report any suspicious activity to the hotel staff or the police.
