Mum thought her daughter had died because she was 'wiped out' by a paraglider in Turkey

Heart-stopping moment British teen was almost killed and left unconscious after paraglider ‘wiped her out’ at Turkish resort

The teen was on holiday with her family when the horror unfolded at the Olu Deniz resort

A MUM feared her daughter was dead after she was "wiped out" by a paraglider at a Turkish resort. The teen was on holiday with her family when the horror unfolded at the popular tourist spot of Olu Deniz. The 14-year-old was left unconscious after being hit by the paraglider as she made her way back to the beach. Her family thought her to be dead and her brother frantically performed CPR until paramedics arrived. Emergency medics said that the teen's liver had been damaged and was bleeding internally. They also found she had suffered a bleed on the brain and a broken collarbone. The teen, from Accrington, Lancs, spent four days in intensive care following the incident in September last year. She made a full recovery but was left with a scar on her face. Her mum said: “When I saw her I thought she was dead. “We couldn’t wake her and she wasn’t breathing so her brother, who is a lifeguard, started doing CPR. “He only stopped when the paramedics arrived.” The teen, who has not been named, was airlifted to a specialist hospital in Antalya for emergency surgery. Her mum said: “Apparently she picked herself up and started walking back to the beach when the paraglider just came out of nowhere and hit her. “The paramedics said she was lucky to be alive. “I think he thought she was dead because he just flew off.” The teen’s family are now taking legal action against the paragliding company. They claim that the firm was negligent and that the pilot was not properly trained. The family’s solicitor, John Johnson, said: “This was a horrific incident that could have been avoided. “The paragliding company had a duty of care to ensure that all safety precautions were taken. “We believe that they failed in this duty and that they are liable for the injuries that our client sustained.” The paragliding company has denied liability and the case is ongoing.
