Jayhawks Win Eighth Straight
KU Pulls Away After Tight First Half
The University of Kentucky Wildcats fell to the Kansas Jayhawks 78-68 on Tuesday night in Allen Fieldhouse. The loss drops Kentucky to 10-5 on the season, while Kansas improves to 12-2.
The game was close throughout the first half, with neither team leading by more than five points. Kentucky took a 32-30 lead into the locker room at halftime.
Kansas came out firing in the second half, however, and quickly built a double-digit lead. The Jayhawks led by as many as 17 points in the second half and were never seriously challenged by the Wildcats.
Kansas was led by Dedric Lawson, who had 23 points and 12 rebounds. Lagerald Vick added 17 points, while Udoka Azubuike had 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Kentucky was led by PJ Washington, who had 15 points and 10 rebounds. Tyler Herro added 14 points, while Keldon Johnson had 12 points.
The loss is a disappointing one for Kentucky, which entered the game ranked No. 7 in the country. The Wildcats will look to bounce back on Saturday when they host the No. 1 Tennessee Volunteers.
Kansas, meanwhile, continues to roll. The Jayhawks have now won eight straight games and are one of the hottest teams in the country. Kansas will look to continue its winning streak on Saturday when it hosts the No. 11 West Virginia Mountaineers.
