JuJu Watkins Leads All Scorers as USC Women Set Team Record for Points in Victory
Trojans Drop 113 Points on Cal State Northridge
The USC women's basketball team set a new team record for points in a game on Sunday, defeating Cal State Northridge 113-65 at the Galen Center.
Watkins Leads the Way
JuJu Watkins led all scorers with 27 points, going 10-of-17 from the field and 5-of-9 from three-point range. The senior guard also added five rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
USC had five players score in double figures, including Destiny Littleton (22 points), Kadi Sissoko (19 points), and Rayah Marshall (17 points).
Dominant Start
The Trojans got off to a hot start, shooting 60% from the field in the first quarter and taking a 29-13 lead. They continued to pour it on in the second quarter, outscoring the Matadors 31-16 to take a 60-29 lead into halftime.
No Letup
USC didn't let up in the second half, outscoring Cal State Northridge 27-16 in the third quarter and 26-20 in the fourth.
Team Effort
The victory was a total team effort, with all 10 players who entered the game scoring at least two points. The Trojans shot 52.9% from the field, 40% from three-point range, and 73.3% from the free-throw line.
Record-Setting Performance
The 113 points scored by USC are the most by the team in a game since 1984. The Trojans also set a new record for three-pointers made in a game, going 13-of-27 from beyond the arc.
Looking Ahead
With the victory, USC improves to 3-1 on the season. The Trojans will be back in action on Wednesday, November 16, when they host the University of San Diego at the Galen Center.
