Jaxson Hayes shaking off injury; cleared to play Sunday

Jaxson Hayes is ready to return to the court Sunday night against the Lakers. The young center missed the last two games with a left knee injury but was able to practice fully on Saturday.

“I’m feeling good,” Hayes said. “I’m ready to go.”

Hayes has been a key part of the Pelicans’ success this season, averaging 9.2 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. He has also been a force on the defensive end, blocking 1.7 shots per game.

Hayes’ return is a big boost for the Pelicans

The Pelicans have gone 1-1 in Hayes’ absence, but they will be counting on him to help them make a push for the playoffs.

“He’s a big part of our team,” Pelicans coach Willie Green said. “He brings a lot of energy and athleticism to the floor. We’re excited to have him back.”

Hayes is expected to start Sunday’s game against the Lakers. He will be matched up against Anthony Davis, one of the best players in the NBA.

“It’s going to be a tough matchup,” Hayes said. “But I’m excited for the challenge.”
