Jackson Among Dolphins Roster Moves
Miami Adds Depth to Offensive Line
The Miami Dolphins have made several roster moves, including signing offensive lineman Cameron Jackson. Jackson, a 6-foot-6, 315-pound tackle, was released by the Tennessee Titans earlier this week. He has started 20 games in his NFL career, including 10 last season.
Other Roster Moves
In addition to Jackson, the Dolphins also signed wide receiver Isaiah Ford and waived long snapper Rex Sunahara. Ford, a former seventh-round pick of the Dolphins, has 85 catches for 1,023 yards and five touchdowns in his career. Sunahara spent the past two seasons with the Dolphins, but he was not expected to make the team's 53-man roster.
Jackson's Impact
Jackson is expected to compete for a starting job at right tackle. The Dolphins lost starting right tackle Jesse Davis to the Minnesota Vikings in free agency, so Jackson could be in line for a significant role. He has experience playing both tackle positions, so he could also provide depth at left tackle.
Ford's Role
Ford is expected to compete for a spot on the Dolphins' wide receiver depth chart. The Dolphins have a lot of young talent at the wide receiver position, but Ford has experience and could provide a veteran presence. He is also a good blocker, so he could be used in certain situations as a blocking wide receiver.
Sunahara's Departure
Sunahara's departure means that the Dolphins will need to find a new long snapper. The Dolphins have several options, including former Pro Bowl long snapper John Denney. Denney spent last season with the Dolphins, but he was released in March. He is expected to be a free agent, so the Dolphins could bring him back.
