Hugh Jackman, Sutton Foster, and Deborra-Lee Furness to Star in New Broadway Musical from Ted Griffin
The Tony Award-winning creative team behind "Jagged Little Pill" reunites for a new musical based on the life of Peter Allen.
The musical, titled "The Boy from Oz," will star Hugh Jackman as Allen, Sutton Foster as Liza Minnelli, and Deborra-Lee Furness as Judy Garland.
Ted Griffin, who wrote the book for "Jagged Little Pill," will also write the book for "The Boy from Oz." The musical will be directed by Tony Award winner Diane Paulus and will feature music and lyrics by Grammy Award winner Peter Allen.
"The Boy from Oz" will tell the story of Allen's rise to fame as a singer-songwriter in the 1960s and 1970s. The musical will also explore Allen's personal life, including his marriage to Minnelli and his struggles with addiction.
"I'm thrilled to be working with this incredible team on 'The Boy from Oz,'" said Jackman. "Peter Allen was a true original, and I can't wait to bring his story to life on stage."
"The Boy from Oz" is scheduled to open on Broadway in the fall of 2023.
