South Dakota-Based Company to Provide Hands-On Training
PIERRE, S.D. –
Governor Kristi Noem has committed $233,602 to fund 13 apprenticeships specializing in cyber security through the Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) Apprenticeship Program. These apprenticeships enable South Dakotans to advance their skills to meet the future demands of the state’s workforce.
The program focuses on developing a highly skilled cybersecurity workforce in the state of South Dakota. It will be carried out by the business O2 Solutions in Sioux Falls. Participants will get hands-on experience and classroom instruction that fulfill strict standards established by the U.S. Department of Labor.
O2 Solutions has vast experience in delivering top-notch cybersecurity education, which benefits the program’s participants. They will collaborate with other educational institutions to create distinctive curricula that emphasize important areas of cybersecurity.
“By investing in cyber security apprenticeships, we’re ensuring that South Dakota has the skilled workforce needed to protect our critical infrastructure and data,” said Governor Noem. “These apprenticeships will provide participants with the knowledge, skills, and experience they need to succeed in this growing field.”
“These apprenticeships will help meet the growing demand for skilled cybersecurity professionals in South Dakota,” said Joe Foss, Commissioner of the Governor’s Office of Economic Development. “We are grateful to Governor Noem for her commitment to workforce development and to O2 Solutions for partnering with us on this important program.”
“We are honored to partner with the Governor’s Office of Economic Development on this vital initiative,” said Mike Kippley, Vice President of O2 Solutions. “These apprenticeships will provide South Dakotans with the opportunity to gain the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in the cybersecurity field.”
South Dakota residents are welcome to apply for the apprenticeship program. More details will be posted to the GOED website soon.
