Gov. Jim Pillen leads Nebraska delegation to Czech Republic, Germany

Governor joins UNL, business leaders on trade mission focused on agriculture, energy, and education.

Lincoln, Neb. -- Governor Jim Pillen will lead a delegation of Nebraska leaders to the Czech Republic and Germany from October 2-8, 2023. The delegation will include University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) President Ted Carter, business leaders, and state officials.

The goals of the trade mission are to:

Governor Pillen said, "This trade mission is an important opportunity to showcase Nebraska's strengths in agriculture, energy, and education. We are eager to learn from our European partners and explore new ways to collaborate."

The delegation will meet with government officials, business leaders, and university representatives in both countries. They will also visit agricultural research facilities, energy companies, and educational institutions.

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln has a long history of collaboration with European universities. UNL has exchange programs with universities in the Czech Republic and Germany, and UNL faculty members have conducted research in both countries.

President Carter said, "This trade mission is a great opportunity to strengthen our ties with European universities and explore new opportunities for collaboration. We are particularly interested in working with our European partners on research in agriculture, energy, and water.

The Nebraska delegation will also visit the headquarters of several major companies, including Bayer, E.ON, and Volkswagen. These companies have a significant presence in Nebraska, and the delegation hopes to explore new opportunities for investment and job creation in the state.
