Cyclones Struggle From the Field Down the Stretch
The Iowa State Cyclones' fourth-quarter shooting woes continued on Saturday as they dropped a 72-65 road decision to the San Diego State Aztecs. ISU shot just 28.6% from the field in the final period, including 1-of-10 from three-point range.
The Cyclones led by five points with just over six minutes remaining in the game, but they were unable to hold on. The Aztecs went on a 10-0 run to take the lead for good. San Diego State held ISU to just one field goal over the final 5:26 of the game.
The loss dropped ISU to 12-11 on the season and 2-9 in Big 12 play. The Cyclones have now lost five of their last six games.
Jackson Leads ISU in Scoring
Aljaz Kunc led the Cyclones in scoring with 18 points. Gabe Kalscheur added 14 points, while Jaren Holmes chipped in 12 points.
The Cyclones shot just 39.3% from the field for the game, including 6-of-25 from three-point range. They also committed 14 turnovers.
Aztecs Get Balanced Scoring Effort
San Diego State was led by Matt Bradley, who scored 19 points. Trey Pulliam added 15 points, while Adam Seiko chipped in 13 points.
The Aztecs shot 46.3% from the field for the game, including 8-of-20 from three-point range. They also had just seven turnovers.
