POCATELLO, Idaho – Despite leading by nine midway through the second half, the Idaho State men's basketball team was unable to hold on, falling to San Diego State 75-57 Thursday night inside Viejas Arena.

The Bengals (7-8, 1-4 MW) were led by sophomore guard Brock Mackenzie, who scored 15 points. Senior guard Tarik Cool added 14 points, while junior forward Brayden Parker chipped in with 10 points.

The Aztecs (14-1, 5-0 MW) were led by senior guard Matt Bradley, who scored a game-high 20 points. Senior forward Nathan Mensah added 14 points, while junior guard Darrion Trammell chipped in with 11 points.

Idaho State shot 37.5% from the field, including 30.8% in the fourth quarter. San Diego State shot 47.1% from the field, including 50% in the second half.

The Bengals were outrebounded 36-28, but forced 14 Aztec turnovers.

The game was tied at 36 with 14:30 remaining in the second half, but San Diego State went on a 12-2 run to take a 48-38 lead with 10:30 remaining. The Aztecs would extend their lead to 14 points, 63-49, with 5:30 remaining.

Idaho State would cut the lead to nine points, 65-56, with 2:30 remaining, but the Aztecs would hit their free throws down the stretch to seal the victory.

The Bengals will return to action Saturday night when they host Boise State inside Reed Gym. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
