Dolphins place starter Jackson on IR before MNF
Miami Dolphins starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has been placed on injured reserve, the team announced Saturday.
Tagovailoa suffered a concussion in the Dolphins' 27-15 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday Night Football. He was taken to the hospital and released later that night.
The Dolphins will start Skylar Thompson at quarterback in Tagovailoa's absence. Thompson started the Dolphins' preseason finale against the Philadelphia Eagles and completed 12 of 24 passes for 128 yards and a touchdown.
Tagovailoa has been dealing with a concussion since he was hit in the head by Bengals defensive end Josh Tupou in the second quarter of Thursday night's game. Tagovailoa was wobbly after the hit and was taken to the locker room. He returned to the game in the third quarter, but was taken out again after he was hit in the head by Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson.
The Dolphins are now 3-1 this season. They will host the New York Jets on Monday Night Football.
