Alfonso Ribeiro's Injury Forces Julianne Hough Back Into 'Dancing With the Stars' Ballroom
Ribeiro Suffered a Minor Injury Last Week
Alfonso Ribeiro, best known for his role as Carlton Banks on the hit sitcom "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air," has been forced to withdraw from the current season of "Dancing with the Stars" due to a minor injury.
Ribeiro, who was paired with professional dancer Witney Carson, suffered the injury during rehearsals last week. The exact nature of the injury has not been disclosed, but it is believed to be related to his back.
Julianne Hough Steps In
With Ribeiro unable to compete, former "Dancing with the Stars" champion Julianne Hough has stepped in as his replacement.
Hough, who won the show's fourth season with partner Helio Castroneves, is a two-time Emmy Award winner and one of the most successful professional dancers in the show's history.
Ribeiro Hoping to Return
Ribeiro has expressed his disappointment at having to withdraw from the competition but is hopeful that he will be able to return in the future.
"I'm so disappointed that I have to withdraw from 'Dancing with the Stars'," Ribeiro said in a statement. "I was really looking forward to competing again, but I have to listen to my body and make sure I'm healthy."
